Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Millsaps Men's Basketball drops a heartbreaker to Berry at home to fall to 4-11 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
In the first half, Berry's 2-3 zone gave the Majors trouble, as they struggled to score out the gate but still kept the game within reach at 25-18 after the first half. After a slow start to the second half, Millsaps turned it on late, with big shots from
Saxton Becker and
Zachary Tullos off the bench making the game tight down the stretch. Down three in the last 10 seconds, Millsaps scored a two and got a miss from Berry at the free throw line, but ultimately
Sam Kohnke's buzzer beating half-court heave fell short and Millsaps lost to Berry 46-45.
Individually, Millsaps received a good portion of their points from Becker and Tullos off the bench. Becker had 11 and Tullos had nine to combine for 20 of Millsaps 46 points. Becker led all Majors in scoring,
Sam Kohnke contributed to the effort with seven points, six rebounds and five assists.
Brennan Gagen added in six points and two assists.
James Turner also distributed early to get four assists as well as a big block in the second half.
