Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Millsaps Women's Basketball downs the Berry Vikings at home 62-48 to improve to 10-5 on the season and 3-1 and conference play.
Millsaps relatively controlled the game from the tip in this one, playing outscoring Berry in every quarter of the outing. After the first quarter Millsaps led 19-13, receiving a good early scoring effort off the bench from
Brazia Jones. The second quarter was played evenly, both teams matching each other 15-15.
In the second half, Millsaps started off by holding Berry to only six points in the third quarter. After a fourth quarter of holding onto a comfortable lead, the Majors took home the victory 62-48.
Individually,
Kala-Jewel Freeman,
Kim Klunk, and
Brazia Jones led the way in scoring, all putting up double figures. Freeman and Klunk scored 13 a piece and Jones put in 12 off the bench.
Katie Connor,
Braxton Thomas, and
Megan Donaldson combined for the rest of the 62 points and were the only Majors to score for the game. Millsaps was good at forcing turnovers from Berry, with Connor and Freeman leading the way with three steals a piece. Freeman also had 10 boards, giving her another double double this season. She was joined in double digit rebounds by Thomas with 10 and Klunk also chipped in on the glass with nine rebounds.
