Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- A comeback led by a huge night from
Saxton Becker off the bench was not enough, as Men's Baskebtall still fell to Oglethorpe 77-65 to fall to 4-12 on the year and 1-4 in the conference.
Slow starts plagued the Majors in both the first and the second half. In the first half, Oglethorpe got off to a 31-10 start before the Majors fought their way back late in the half. A late 18-3 run led by Becker brought the Majors back as they entered the half only down six after trailing by 21 at one point.
In the second half, despite many runs by Millsaps, the Stormy Petrels held off every attempt at a comeback and ultimately survived eight second half Millsaps' threes to win 77-65.
Individually, the Majors were led by Becker who led the offense with 28 points and five assists on 10-15 shooting from the field and 7-11 shooting from three to go with five rebounds and two steals on the defensive end. Gagen struggled from the field but still was second on the team in scoring with ten points, four rebounds and two assists. Kohnke went 3-9 from downtown for his nine points and five assists.
Zachary Tullos also was able to get some offense going, hitting half of his shots in limited minutes to put up six points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
As a team, Millsaps assisted on 17 of their 23 shots and shot 13-31 from downtown.
Millsaps will next be in action next weekend at home against Centre and Sewanee.
