A slow start to the first half hurt the Majors early as they struggled to score against Oglethorpe's defense. However, a spark off the bench from the hot three point shooting from
Megan Donaldson pulled the Majors back into the game and they ended the first quarter only down three. Both teams struggled to find luck scoring in the second quarter, shooting a combined 7-29 from the field in a seven-eight quarter won by Millsaps. T
he Stormy Petrels won the third quarter 14-11 then pulled away early in the fourth quarter. After a late run led by
Kala-Jewel Freeman was held off by Oglethorpe, the Majors ultimately fell 49-61.
Pre-game,
Kala-Jewel Freeman was honored after reaching the 1,000 point milestone in her career. During the game, she piled on more points onto her career total, putting up 19 points and 10 rebounds on 6-15 shooting to go with two blocks.
Megan Donaldson came off the bench to make major contributions, knocking down 4 threes in rout to 14 points.
Kim Klunk had a double double, scoring 10 points and getting 12 rebounds.
Braxton Thomas made up for the rest of Millsaps scoring, scoring six points, pulling down 13 rebounds, and getting three blocks.
Women's Basketball will next be in action next weekend at home against Sewanee and Centre.
