Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Millsaps Women's Basketball loses to Birmingham-Southern at home in their first conference game of the year, 61-45. This loss drops Millsaps to 7-5 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
After a great first quarter that saw the Majors take the lead 15-9, Millsaps struggled to get anything going on the offensive end. In the second quarter, Millsaps scored a game-low six points, and Millsaps went into the half only shooting 36% from the field.
Second half, Millsaps still struggled to score, only scoring 12 points in the third quarter. Big minutes from
Kala-Jewel Freeman after a foul trouble-laden first half provided a slight offensive spark, however Millsaps still only shot 23% from the field and turned the ball over nine times. Despite a late run by the Majors, Millsaps still ultimately fell to BSC after late free throws put the game away.
Individually,
Megan Donaldson came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 11 points on 3-7 shooting from three point range.
Braxton Thomas led all starts with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Freeman followed behind with nine points and two rebounds in limited minutes.
Katie Connor had a game high seven assists,
Brazia Jones came off the bench to contribute six points, four rebounds and three steals.
The Majors will next be in action this weekend on the road in Conway, Arkansas against Hendrix College.
