Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Big nights from
Kim Klunk and
Kala-Jewel Freeman lead Women's Basketball over Sewanee at home, 60-50. This victory brings the Majors to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference, keeping them at third place in the SAA.
A strong first quarter led by a perfect start from Klunk paved the way for the victory. Klunk scored nine points on 4-4 shooting Â
Megan Donaldson came off the bench to hit two late quarter threes to lift Millsaps over Sewanee 23-11 in the first quarter. The Majors ultimately never gave up this lead, playing the Tigers evenly the rest of the way to get the double digit win.
After a cold shooting second quarter, Millsaps got back on track in the third quarter, scoring 14 points to Sewanee's 15 to keep the lead at nine. In the fourth quarter, Sewanee made a late run, but ultimately the Majors stepped to the line and made free throws to hold off the Tigers and win by ten.
Individually,
Kim Klunk led all scorers with 24 points on 10-12 shooting from the field to go along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Kala-Jewel Freeman joined Klunk in double digits with 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds on 6-10 shooting from the field. Starting point guard
Katie Connor had a game-high seven assists.
Brazia Jones was the leading scorer off the bench with seven points, five rebounds, and two assists.
