Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Men's Basketball surges late, but falls to Sewanee at home 54-61. This loss drops Millsaps to 4-13 on the season and 1-5 in conference play.
Despite a quick start by Sewanee, Millsaps fought back in the first half, led by hot shooting off the bench by
Robert Gardner. Gardner led all Majors with nine points in the first half and Sam Kohnke had a good distributing half, racking up four assists to go with his five points.
In the second half, Sewanee pulled away in the early minutes, however good defense and forced turnovers by
James Turner led a late run by the Majors to close the gap. Big three pointers for Kohnke and late driving heroics by
Brennan Gagen got the Majors back in the game, before Sewanee iced the game from the free throw line.
Individually,
Sam Kohnke led all Majors with 14 points, seven assists, eight rebounds and two steals on 5-14 shooting from the field. Brenan Gagen joined him in double digits, scoring 12 points on 4-10 shooting along with three assists.
Robert Gardner led all bench scorers with 11 points and three steals.
As a team, Millsaps shot 46% from the field in the second half and held Sewanee to only 41% shooting while forcing eight turnovers.
