Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Hot shooting paces Women's Basketball in their victory overy Centre at home, 71-40. This victory brings Millsasp to 12-6 on the year and 5-2 in the conference, good for third place with a two game lead on fourth in the SAA.
Women's Basketball got off to a quick start on offense, scoring 19 points in the first quarter while shooting 62% from the field and making two of their three three-point attempts. The first quarter miss from three was the only three pointer missed by the Majors throughout the game, as they shot a blistering 9-10 from three this afternoon.
Millsaps shot 50% in the second quarter as well, putting up a 18 point quarter before having their lowest scoring quarter of the afternoon in the third with 12 points. In the fourth quarter, Millsaps got contributions from the bench and went 5-5 from three to blow the game open late.
Individually,
Kala-Jewel Freeman led all Majors in scoring with 21 points and six rebounds on 8-18 shooting from the field.
Braxton Thomas was the next leading scorere with nine points and two steals. Balanced scoring the rest of the way for the Majors, led by
Caroline Guilbeau with eight points on 3-3 shooting from the field.
Kim Klunk had seven points and four rebounds,
Megan Donaldson hit two threes on her way to six points,
Brazia Jones had six points and two assists off the bench,
Millicent Butler hit both of her threes off the bench,
Kasi Matthews returned from injury to hit her first field goal of the year and score four points, and
Katie Connor chipped in four points as well. Connor also was the lead distributor in this game, dishing out a game-high eight assists.
Millsaps Women's Basketball will next be in action next week on the road in rematches against both Sewanee and Centre from this weekend.
