Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Men's Basketball loses wire-to-wire matchup with Centre, 66-61. This loss drops the Majors to 4-14 on the season and 1-6 in the conference.
Despite a hot shooting start by Centre, Millsaps fought back to close the gap to just 37-31 at the end of the first half. Big time scoring from
Buck Blanz off the bench paced the Majors throughout the game. He had a huge afternoon, scoring 24 points and dishing out three assists on 11-21 shooting from the field.Â
Millsaps won the second half 30-29, led by more scoring by Blanz as well as a balanced attack from the rest of the Majors. After taking a late lead to go up 59-58 on a Blanz jumper, Millsaps was outscored 8-2 down the stretch after a couple of empty trips and lost the game late to the Colonels.
Individually, Blanz led all scorers with 24. Â
Sam Kohnke had a good all-around game, hitting one three, dishing out six assists and collecting eight boards.
Saxton Becker hit eight points off the bench and grabbed three rebounds.
Brennan Gagen scored seven points.
Robert Gardner and
Zachary Tullos combined for twelve points, four rebounds and two steals.
The Majors will next be in action next weekend against the same two opponents from this weekend, Sewanee and Centre on the road.
