Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Men's Basketball gets good all-around effort to hold Hendrix to 56 points on the night and take a 63-56 victory on the road.
In a tightly contested game from the jump, Millsaps managed to pull away from Hendrix in the second half to take the victory. The first half was played to almost a draw, with Hendrix coming out on top 26-25. Millsaps was led by a solid first half from
Brennan Gagen who had five points and three assists to lead the Majors offense early.Â
Scoring in the second half was dominated by Gagen and
Sam Kohnke who combined for 20 points and four assists on a perfect half shooting from three point land. Kohnke made all three of his attempts and Gagen made his one attempt to lead Millsaps to a 38-30 half.
This victory pulls Millsaps up to 1-1 in the conference and 4-9 overall on the season, and the Majors are now tied for fifth amongst conference standings.
Individually, Gagen led all Majors with 16 points and seven assists on 4-13 shooting from the field.
Sam Kohnke was second in scoring with 12 points and two steals on 3-6 shooting from downtown.
Saxton Becker came off the bench to contribute nine points and two assists.
Logan Mancuso and
James Turner rounded out the starting lineup, combining for 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.Â
As a team, the Majors shot 40.4% from the field and 47.1% from three. They also had a 9:5 assist:turnover ratio while forcing the Warriors to turn the ball over 15 times. Men's Basketball will be in action next on Sunday against Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
