Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Men's Basketball loses in a fast-paced shootout against Rhodes College, 85-113. This loss drops Millsaps to 4-18 on the season and 1-10 in conference play.
To begin the game, the Majors honored their four-year player,
Brennan Gagen. Brennan was joined by his family in a pre-game celebration honoring his four years of accomplishments while at Millsaps off the court as well as on the court.
In the first half, Rhodes' fast paced, pressing style of defense was effective against the Majors early, coaxing them into 28 first half turnovers. The turnovers allowed them to take a 55-42 lead into the half despite the Majors shooting well from the field and getting 12 points from
Robert Gardner.Â
In the second half, the Majors adjusted, only turned the ball over 12 times and shot 54% from the field in their attempts to make a comeback. However, the Lynx got it going from three point range and outlasted Millsaps comeback efforts.
Individually,
Robert Gardner led all Majors in points with a career high 18 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists.
Zachary Tullos came off the bench to shoot a perfect 6-6 from the field, including one big dunk in rout to 15 points and four rebounds.
James Turner started and put up 13 points and five assists on 3-6 shooting from the field.
Millsaps will next take the court next weekend on the road against Berry and Oglethorpe.Â
