In the first game the Vikings scored in each of the first six innings to take a 14-9 win.
Game 1
Berry (21-19, 10-11 SAA), took the early advantage in game one when it scored once in the first and twice in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Millsaps (17-22, 8-12 SAA) came up with a big inning in the third, however, scoring five times to take the lead. Junior
Andy Page (Warrenton, Va.) and junior
Cavan Breland (Hoover, Ala.) started the inning with a double and a triple to score the first run before sophomore
Connor Wooodall (Madison, Miss.) singled to make it 3-2. After a fielder's choice play tied the game, the Majors loaded the bases for senior
Logan Patterson (Pensacola, Fla.), who singled to bring home a pair and make it 5-3.
Millsaps' lead did not live long as Berry tied it up in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run home run by Jacob Delk. Millsaps came right back with three more runs to retake the lead in the fourth, getting and RBI single by sophomore
Brennan Ducote (Lafayette, La.) and then a two-run single off the bat of senior
Seth Trulock (Taylorville, Ill.) that made it 8-5.
In the bottom of the fourth Berry struck again, tying the game at 8-8 on a double by Tyler Calvert and then taking the lead on a run that scored on a wild pitch that capped off the four-run inning. From there the Vikings never trailed again, adding a run in the fifth and four more in a sixth-inning that highlighted by a three-run home run by Alfred Francis.
Woodall led Millsaps with three hits, including a pair of doubles, with Ducote driving in three runs for the Majors.
Game 2
Millsaps put the second game away early with a six-run first inning. Breland led the game off with a single, stole second and then scored on a base hit by Woodall. Berry recorded a pair of outs, but the Majors came up with four consecutive run-scoring singles, with Patterson capping the streak with a two-run base hit that made it 6-0.
That was all the run support that junior
Jacob Mardick (The Woodlands, Texas) would need. He started for Millsaps and went all the way, working around seven hits and three walks while striking out a pair to pick up his eighth victory of the season.
Millsaps added two more runs in the third, getting an RBI triple from Breland who then scored on a groundball to third off the bat of Woodall. Berry broke through for a run in the bottom of the third and went on to score single runs in each of the next three innings, including getting RBI doubles from Delk and Slade Dale.
Junior
Wes Lassere (Thibodaux, La.) capped of the scoring in the seventh with a solo home run for Millsaps, his fifth of the season.
With its regular season now complete, Millsaps will now prepare for the SAA Tournament that begins next weekend.
