JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps dropped their non-conference match Tuesday night, 3-0 to East Texas Baptist University.
Kimberly Manley (Madison, Ala.) led the Majors offensively with one shot on goal while
Lindsay Redhead (Baton Rouge, La.) and
Molly Ambrose (Pensacola, Fla.) each had a shot in the game.
Neither team was able to get anything started in the first half. The Tigers outshot Millsaps 9-0 in the first but some solid defense to go along with some strong goalkeeping from
Olivia Gattuso (Memphis, Tenn.) kept the match scoreless heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Majors had a chance to score in the 49th minute. With a cluster of players in front of the Tigers goal, Manley got a close shot off that took a diving save to stop the goal by the keeper.
East Texas Baptist's goals came in the 62nd, 84th and 89th minutes.
Gattuso finished the match with 11 saves and now leads the SAA with 58 saves on the season.
Millsaps will hit the road next for an SAA match against Hendrix in Conway, Arkansas. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
