Women’s Basketball Heads to Texas for Two Weekend Games

11/29/2018 10:46:00 AM

The Millsaps women's basketball team is rolling.

After starting the season 1-1, they've reeled off 4 straight win, including back-to-back wins by double digits.

Leading the Majors offense is sophomore Morgan McCrea. McCrea is 3rd in the SAA in PPG, at 15.8 and has scored in double digits in all the Majors wins, including 26 over the weekend Howard Payne. She's also hit at least one three-pointer in all six games this season. Anna Wilson has also scored in double figures in 5 of the Majors 6 games and is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.7 PPG. Just behind Wilson is Dia Fortenberry, who averages 11.2 PPG to give Millsaps three players averaging at least 10 PPG.

Defensively, the Majors have a formidable 1-2 punch in Fortenberry and senior Millicent Butler. Fortenberry ranks 4th in the conference in RPG with 6.3 while Butler ranks 2nd in steals/game with 2.5.

Last Week

Millsaps hosted Howard Payne and LeTourneau at the Hangar Dome for their Thanksgiving Invitational this past Saturday and Sunday. McCrea's 26 points led the Majors past Howard Payne, 76-72 while Fortenberry's double-double (22 pts. 13 rebounds) led the way in the Majors 69-51 win over LeTourneau.

This Week

Millsaps already started their week with a win. Playing at home for the last time in more than 2 weeks, the Majors knocked off Centenary for the second time this season. While McCrea was the only Major to score in double figures (13 pts.), 9 different players scored in Millsaps' 61-47 win over the Ladies.
