Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Tops the University of Dallas 70-60

IRVING, Texas -- The Millsaps College men's basketball team wrapped up their road trip through "The Lone Star State" on Saturday night by taking on the Crusaders of the University of Dallas.

The Majors never trailed in this one as they were able to knock off the Crusaders by a score of 70-60, and pick up their eighth win of the season.

How It Happened
Millsaps started the game on a 5-0 run thanks to a three-pointer from Joshua Miller and a fast break layup from Michael Sullivan. After UD got a three-point shot of their own, the Majors rattled off 13 more points before the Crusaders cracked double-digits on the scoreboard.

Matt Owens converted on a layup to give Millsaps an 18-9 lead with 12:59 left to play in the half before the Crusaders made good on a pair of free throws on their next possession to make it 18-11.

The Majors led by as many as 16 in the first half, but Dallas closed the gap down the stretch and Millsaps settled for a 36-28 lead at halftime.

The second half was very much back and forth with the Majors stretching out their lead to 15 points at one point, but unlike in the first meeting between these two school's when Millsaps was able to completely run away from Dallas, the Crusaders fought back this time.

Dallas cut the lead down to 8 with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game, but they were never able to really get within striking distance.

Ryan McLaurin closed out the game on the free throw line, and when the final buzzer sounded Millaps picked up the 70-60 win.

Key Contributors
Owens finished as the high scorer for the Majors with 12 points. Saxton Becker added 11 points. including 3-6 shooting from three-point territory. In what has become a theme for Millsaps this year, no other Majors player scored in double-digits. All told, 13 different players scored points for Millsaps.

Owens and Becker also tied for a team-high 6 rebounds, while Cameron Carvelli led Millsaps with 4 assists.

What's Next?
Millsaps, who now sits at 8-0 on the year, will have some time off as the academic semester comes to a close. The Majors will be back in action on Tuesday, December 18th when they travel down Riverside Drive to take on Belhaven.

The Majors will be looking to complete the season-sweep of their cross-town rival, as they beat the Blazers 77-66 back on November 13th to open up the season.
