After a 17-day hiatus, the Millsaps women's basketball team finally hits the court again this week. They'll head across the street on Tuesday to take on Belhaven before welcoming MacMurray College to the Hangar Dome on Wednesday.
Last Time Out
The Majors come into Tuesday's game against Belhaven having won 6 in a row, including an upset of 19
thranked Austin College on the Roos home court. Because of that win, and their overall 7-1 record, Millsaps has received votes in the D3.com top 25 poll each of the last two weeks.
Morgan McCrea continues to lead the team in scoring, dropping 15.6 PPG, which puts her at third in the conference.
Defensively,
Dia Fortenberry (7.3) and
Anna Wilson (6.4) both rank top-10 in the conference in RPG, at third and tied for seventh, respectively while
Millicent Butler ranks fourth with 2 steals/game and
Anna Thigpen is fifth with 1.4 blocks/game.
Today
Belhaven University Blazers (4-4, 2-2 ASC) 3:00 PM, Jackson, Miss.
Belhaven and Millsaps squared off at the Hangar Dome to open the 2018-19 season. Despite trailing by double-digits with less than two minutes left, the Majors battled back, forced overtime and knocked off the Blazers for a season-opening win. McCrea led all scorers with 20 points while Fortenberry had 19.
Key Players for Belhaven
- AaLiyaha Thornton-Thornton comes into the game averaging 12.9 PPG, good enough for 12thin the ASC. She had 10 points, to go along with seven rebounds in the team's first meeting.
- Lauren Brooks-Brooks averages a double-double/game, scoring 12.1 points and grabbing 10.4 rebounds/game.

Wednesday
MacMurray College Highlanders (1-9, 0-4 SLIAC)
After picking up a win in the opening game of the season, the Highlanders have dropped nine straight, including a pair of weekend setbacks to Lawrence University and Greenville College.
Key Players for MacMurray
- Chassidy Hays-Hays is the leading scorer for the Highlanders, averaging 16.1 PPG, including a 40-point outburst against St. Mary's on Dec. 8. She also averages 13.4 RPG, tops on the team.
- Shelby Fink and Alexis Doyle-The pair are the second and third leading scorers for MacMurray, dropping in 13.6 and 10.2 PPG, respectively.
This will be the first meeting between Millsaps and MacMurray who, up until three years ago, was a Division II member.
