Millsaps Looks to Continue High-Level of Play at Home

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's basketball team has been playing some of their best basketball as of the late. Last week the Majors picked up two huge SAA road wins, 72-47 over Oglethorpe and 70-64 over Berry. Millsaps returns home to the Hangar Dome this weekend where they will be looking to win three games in row for the first time this year.

This weekend the Majors face off with Sewanee and Centre who are both locked in a three-way tie with Oglethorpe atop the SAA standings with identical 7-2 conference records. A pair of wins could really shake things up as the league begins to eye postseason play, which begins on February 23rd.

Junior Michael Sullivan has been the leader for Millsaps on the offensive end all season long, and things were no different last weekend. He was the leading scorer in both victories with 18 and 19 points respectively.

A big part of the Majors recent success has been their defense. Not only did they hold Oglethorpe to just 47 total points, but in conference games alone they are tops in the league holding opponents to just a 40.7 field-goal percentage.

The Tigers of Sewanee come into the weekend having won four of their last six games, and are led by the reigning SAA Player of the Week in Adrian Thomas. Millsaps dropped a 67-52 game on the road at Sewanee back on January 5th.

The Centre College Colonels have lost just once since the calendar turned to 2018, and boast the league's third-best scoring offense averaging 79.5 points per game. This weekend the Majors will be looking to avenge a close 63-58 loss from January 7th.

Friday night's game against Sewanee is set for a 8:00pm tip-off, and Sunday's contest with Centre will begin at 2:00pm.
