Volleyball Faces Tough SAA Road Slate

The Millsaps Majors have two matches on the schedule this weekend. Check out the game notes below for information about each match's opponent.
 
Last Week
 
The Majors opened up SAA play with a trio of matches in the Hangar Dome. They dropped a 0-3 decision to Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday followed by an 0-3 loss to Hendrix and a 1-3 loss to Rhodes to round out the weekend.  
 
Four Majors registered double-digit kills to open up conference play including McKenzi Petricko with 30, Morgan Vincent with 20 and 15 each from Erica Bennett and Maddie Grace McCurdy.

Today: 
 
Berry College (7-2, 3-0) 11:00 AM
 
Berry comes into Saturday's match ranked 24thin the nation after wins over Oglethorpe, Sewanee and Centre to start their 2018 SAA slate. They also own a win over #14 ranked WashU at the Transylvania Invitational.   
 
Key Players for Berry: 
  • Emily Hancock: Leads the team with 98 kills and is tops in the SAA with 3.27 kills/set. 
  • Carson VanCampen: Ranks tied for 2ndin the SAA with 37 blocks and is part of a Viking team that is 13thnationally with 2.20 blocks/set. 
 
 The Majors and Vikings met three times during the 2017 season. During the regular season, Berry dropped Millsaps in straight sets in both meetings. In the final matchup, which took place in the SAA semi-finals, Berry hung on to win a thrilling 3-2 match over Millsaps.

Sunday
 
Oglethorpe College (3-9, 1-2) 12:00 PM
 
Oglethorpe had a rough start to the 2018 season, dropping their first 9 contests and not winning a game in 6 of those. They have rebounded, winning three straight including a 3-2 victory over Centre last weekend.  
 
Key Players for Oglethorpe: 
  • Brianna Chin: Ranks 4thin the SAA with 116 kills. 
  • Jacoby Sims: Ranks 5thin the SAA with 114 kills.  
  • Ashlee Tolbert: Ranks 7thin the SAA with 25 blocks. 
 
The Majors knocked off the Stormy Petrels 3-0 at home and in Atlanta during the 2017 season.
