MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Millsaps College men's basketball team was back in action Sunday for another road Southern Athletic Association (SAA) game as they traveled to Tennessee to take on the Lynx of Rhodes College.
The Majors were never able to find their offensive rhythm as the Lynx picked up the 83-63 win.
The loss drops the Majors to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in SAA play. Hendrix improves to 4-12 on the year and 1-4 in conference play.
How It Happened
Millsaps got on the board first after
Michael Sullivan's offensive rebound led to a Lynx foul. Rhodes responded by pulling ahead by as many as 10 throughout the half. Everytime the Majors would make a fun, the Lynx would answer with a three and extend their lead. A
Saxton Becker three and-one pulled Millsaps within four, at 20-16, and after a Rhodes layup, a
Newlon Gillihan three brought Millsaps within three. Rhodes, however, ended the half on an 18-6 run to take a 40-25 lead into the break.
The Lynx were able to sustain a lead of 15+ throughout the second half until a 6-0
Joshua Miller run brought the Majors back within 11, at 59-48. But the Majors weren't able to keep the run going as Rhodes' offense had an answer for everything the Majors threw at them, using the charity stripe to ice the game late.
Key Contributors
Justin Van Pelt led the Majors in scoring with 12 points on 5-7 shooting while Miller chipped in 11. Sullivan led the way with eight rebounds.
What's Next?
