After a weekend on the road, the Millsaps women's basketball team returns to the Hangar Dome for a pair of weekend SAA games. They'll square off with Centre on Friday night before taking on Sewanee on Sunday, which will wrap up the first half of the Majors SAA slate.
Last Time Out
After starting their SAA schedule 3-0, the Majors hit the road against Hendrix and Rhodes last weekend.
On Friday, the Millsaps defense was in lockdown mode, allowing just 12 first half points en route to a 60-46 win over Hendrix. Sunday, the Majors weren't able to replicate that defense, as Rhodes gave the Majors their first SAA loss, 93-49.
At 13-3, 4-1 SAA, Millsaps still sits atop the conference standings. As a team, the Majors rank first in offense, averaging 64.9 points/game. The Major defense isn't far behind, ranking third in the SAA while giving up just 57.3 points/game.
Individually, Millsaps is just one of two teams to have three players in the top 12 scoring average in the conference.
Morgan McCrea sits at sixth, averaging 12.3 points/game while teammate
Dia Fortenberry is right behind her in seventh, at 12.1 points/game.
Millicent Butler is 12
thoverall, adding 10.2 points/game.
Defensively, Fortenberry's 7.4 rebounds/game puts her at third in the SAA and her 2.6 steals/game is tops is the conference.
Anna Thigpen's presence down low has been key for Millsaps, as her 1.5 blocks/game ranks third in the SAA.
Friday
Centre College Colonels (9-7, 2-3 SAA) 6:00 PM, Hangar Dome
Centre started their season hot, going 7-1 before cooling off and dropping five of their last six, including three in a row.
Key Players for Centre
- Kat Wilson-Wilson is the biggest scoring threat for the Colonels, averaging 11.9 points/game. She is the only Colonel to average in double figures.
- Centre's Defense-While the Colonels may not wow you offensively, their defense is the team's bread and butter. They rank first in the SAA, giving up just 51.0 points/game.
The Majors and Colonels split their 2017-18 contests, with each team winning at home.

Sunday
Sewanee Tigers (7-9, 1-4 SAA) 1:00 PM, Hangar Dome
January has not been kind to the Tigers, as they are just 1-4 since the start of 2019, with three of those losses being conference games.
Key Players for Sewnee
- Kinsley Logan-Logan, just a freshman, has started all 16 games for the Tigers and is the only Sewanee player to average double figures in scoring. Her 11.0 points/game is tops for the team and ranks 10thoverall in the SAA.
- Sue Kim-Kim comes into the game averaging 9.0 points/game but her biggest contribution is her ability to get her teammates the ball. She averages 4.7 assists/game, which is best in the SAA and more than an assist/game more than second place.
The Majors and Tigers met twice last season, with each winning one contest. Millsaps took down Sewanee in Tennessee before the Tigers repaid the favor in the Hangar Dome.
