JACKSON, Miss. -- On Saturday, the Millsaps College women's soccer team hosted senior night to celebrate the times that
Kimberly Manley,
Emily Gager,
Riley Fobare, and
Abby Tidwell spent in purple and white. The Majors took on the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers in their final match of the 2019 regular season.
Each half included two goals from the visiting Panthers, awarding BSC the 4-0 win.
How It Happened
Saturday's contest featured two of the best goalkeepers in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) in
Maddie Moore and Blakely Jones. Moore had her work cut out for her early, with BSC forcing four shots on goal in the opening 15 minutes before finding the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead.
The Panthers doubled the score with a score in the 27th minute to go into the break up 2-0.
Millsaps improved on offense in the second half, putting some pressure on Birmingham-Southern with nine shots. Unfortunately, the Majors struggled to put the ball away.
Scores in the 62nd and 86th minutes lifted the Panthers to win 4-0 at Harper Davis Field.
What's Next?
Millsaps will discover the name of their opponent in the opening round of the SAA Championships later in the week. Postseason play will begin Saturday, November 2nd.
