JACKSON, Miss. -- On Saturday afternoon the Millsaps College volleyball team closed out the 2019 regular season by hosting a tri-match with LeTourneau University and Loyola University-New Orleans.
The Majors stumbled against LeTourneau to open up the day, as they dropped the opener by a score of 3-1. Millsaps rebounded in the final match to score a 3-1 win over Loyola.
The Majors move to 17-13 overall with the split.
How It Happened
Despite strong play from a pair of seniors, Millsaps struggled to sustain momentum in the first match against LeTourneau.
Erica Bennett had a monster game with a team-high 23 kills, while fellow classmate
McKenzi Petricko added 13.
An afternoon break allowed the Majors to regroup before coming back to the court to close out the day with a match against Loyola.
The Wolf Pack jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-21 win in first set, but it was all Millsaps down the stretch.
The Majors rattled off three set wins in a row (25-20, 26-24, 25-12) to take the match 3-1.
Petricko and Bennett, who were just two players playing the final matches of their career at the Hangar Dome, again paced the Millsaps offense.
This time it was Petricko who led the way with 18 kills, while Bennett totaled 14.
Notables
Cailey Ness totaled four blocks on the afternoon.

Mary Katherine Burrow added 27 digs, and a pair of service aces.
Morgan Vincent had an all-around performance that included 13 kills, 24 digs and 9 total blocks.
