Millsaps Will Wrap Up the Regular Season Tomorrow at BSC

2/15/2019 11:59:00 AM

JACKSON, Miss. -- After picking up their third Southern Athletic Association (SAA) win last weekend against Hendrix College, the Millsaps College men's basketball team will wrap up the 2018-19 regular season tomorrow afternoon at Birmingham-Southern.

Check out the game notes below for all of the details on this weekend's matchup.

Last Week
The Majors returned home on Friday night after spending the last couple of weekends away from the friendly confines of the Hangar Dome.

The hometown crowd did Millsaps well as they were able to pick up their third Southern Athletic Association (SAA) win by a score of 52-41 over Hendrix College. Justin Van Pelt led Millsaps with 12 points and he pulled down 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

On Sunday afternoon the careers of Daniel ColemanJohnathan Manning and Michael Sullivan were honored prior to tip off against Rhodes.

The Majors held a 43-42 lead at halftime, but some hot shooting from the Lynx down the stretch allowed Rhodes to escape the Hangar Dome with the 92-84 win.

Millsaps enters the final weekend of the regular season at 11-13 overall and 3-10 in conference play.

Tomorrow: 3:00pm at Birmingham-Southern College (12-11, 6-7 SAA)
The Panthers of Birmingham-Southern College will be the final regular season opponent for Millsaps this year. The two teams met at the Hangar Dome back on January 1st. That particular matchup saw the Majors open up SAA play with a 78-67 win.

In that game Saxton Becker led all scorers with 19 points on 6-12 shooting from the field.

Since that time the Panthers have picked up 6 wins in conference play, including back-to-back wins over Hendrix and Rhodes last week.

BSC is led in scoring by senior guard Zachary Allison who is 5th in the SAA with 13.1 points per game. Saturday will be a huge test for the Millsaps defense because as a team the Panthers lead the league in six different offensive categories including: points per game (78.4), field goals made per game (27.4) and three-point percentage (36.4).

It will take an all-around effort from the Majors if they want to replicate their success and complete the season sweep of BSC.
