ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Millsaps College men's tennis team kicked off spring break on Sunday by taking on the Bears of Washington University in St. Louis.
WashU, which entered as the No. 8 in the latest Oracle/ITA NCAA Division III Men's Collegiate Tennis Rankings, swept the matches to hand the Majors their first loss of the 2019 season.
Millsaps falls to 6-1 on the year, while the Bears improve to 6-3.
How It Happened
The Bears jumped out to the early lead after sweeping the doubles matches.
The continued their strong play in singles to wrap up the win.
Davis Plummer, Benjamin Falk and
Owen Stovall all suffered their first losses of the season.
Plummer
dropped his first match of the season 6-1, 6-4 to his opponent, who is ranked No. 6 in the country at singles No. 1.
What's Next?
Millsaps has a quick turnaround as they will play a pair of matches in Orlando tomorrow. First up is No. 14 Case Western Reserve University at 9:00 a.m. CT. The day concludes with a 5:30 p.m. CT match against Franklin and Marshall College.
