ORLANDO, Fla. -- On Monday night, the Millsaps College men's tennis team played their second match of spring break in the Sunshine State of Florida. The Majors took on the Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall College.
Millsaps led 2-1 after doubles, and despite falling behind at one point in singles, were able to rebound to capture their 7th win of the season.
How It Happened
Brandon Beck and
Davis Plummer led things off in doubles with a comfortable 8-3 win. The Diplomats captured the win at the No. 2 spot, but
Alex Gardiner and
Jacob Niehaus won their third tiebreaker of the season to give the Majors a 2-1 lead.
After falling behind 3-2 due to Franklin & Marshall wins at both No. 3 & No. 4 singles,
Benjamin Falk tied the match with a come from behind 10-8 tiebreaker victory at No. 6.
Plummer's 7-6, 7-6 win at No. 1 gave Millsaps the lead, and
Josh Shearin clinched the match for the Majors with his 7-6, 7-6 win at No. 2.
John Kimball's win at No. 5 polished off the 6-3 win for Millsaps.
What's Next?
Millsaps has a couple of days off now. They will be back in action on Thursday when they take on both Ohio Wesleyan University and Kenyon College.
