JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College men's tennis team was finally able to play a home match on Satuday afternoon.
The wet spring has caused several schedule changes for the Majors already this year, and today was no different. The match had to be delayed due to the wet courts, but when play finally began the Majors were able to knock off rival Belhaven by a score of 6-3 to improve their record to 6-0 this year.
How It Happened
Millsaps was able to grab the critical 2-1 advantage early on in doubles action.
John Kimball and
Cooper Cearley quickly dispatched of their opponent at the No. 2 spot by an 8-1 score, and the combination of
Davis Plummer/
Brandon Beck scored an 8-3 win at No. 1 to give the Majors their second point.
In singles play Millsaps was able to dominate en route to the 6-3 win.
Plummer took the win at No. 1 (7-5, 6-0) and Beck earned the point at No.3 with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
It was
Mac Lane who clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6, and
Benjamin Falk cleaned up the 6-3 team win with his 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4
What's Next?
Millsaps now shifts their attention to their spring break trip. The Majors will travel to Orlando, Florida for five non-conference matches. First up will be Washington University (St. Louis) in a 1:30 p.m. CT match on Sunday, March 10th.
