MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- On the second day of the 2019 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament the Millsaps College women's tennis team faced a semifinal matchup against No. 1 seeded Sewanee.
The Tigers came into the tournament as the six-time defending champion, and ranked as the No. 30 team in all of NCAA Division III.
After the doubles matches Sewanee held a 2-1 advantage, and they scored three straight singles wins to come away with the 5-1 win.
How It Happened
Ella Shields and
Maggie Dabadie combined to score an 8-6 win at doubles two, but the Tigers won the other two matches to take the 2-1 lead.
The lead quickly jumped to 4-1 after two wins at singles two and six. The Tigers closed out their semifinal win with a slim 6-3, 6-4 win at singles three.
What's Next?
Millsaps will await potential individual NCAA selections, and the release of the SAA all-conference awards later this month.
