MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Millsaps College men's tennis team returned to Memphis this afternoon to resume their Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match against Rhodes College. Back on Saturday the match was stopped midway through singles play with the Lynx up 4-2.

The Majors made things interesting when play was resumed, but Rhodes was able to hold on and pick up the 5-4 win.

The loss drops Millsaps to 9-4 overall on the year. They are 2-2 in SAA play.

How It Happened
Davis Plummer and Brandon Beck continued their high level of play by scoring a point for the Majors at doubles one. After their 8-7 win, they are now 11-1 overall on the year and 4-0 in SAA play. 

Unfortunately Rhodes rallied to take the other two matches to grab a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. 

At number one Plummer scored his second win of the match by knocking off the No. 9 player in the Atlantic South Region in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-2). Jacob Niehaus scored a win at number three, and freshman Benjamin Falk improved to 10-1 on the year with a 6-1, 6-4 win at number six. 

Despite the Millsaps rally, the Lynx did what they needed to do in singles as that early 2-1 advantage proved to be decisive in their 5-4 match win. 

What's Next?
After playing away from Jackson for the majority of the year, the Majors have only home matches remaining on their 2019 schedule. Millsaps will be back in action this weekend when they host both Centre and Sewanee in conference play. 

The weekend gets underway on Saturday afternoon with a 12:00 p.m. match against Sewanee.
