JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps Women's Soccer team was challenged by the Owls of Mississippi University for Women on Wednesday night. After an early lead, things looked hopeful for the Majors. It was until an Owl goal in the second overtime proved to be the difference, giving MUW the 2-1 win.
How It Happened
1st Half
Millsaps jumped off to an early start when
Riley Fobare found
Alexi Martinez on the nearside post.
The visiting Owls found themselves in foul trouble, providing Millspas with multiple opportunities to extend their lead. Unfortunately, nothing was going for the home team, closing the opening half, up 1-0.
2nd Half
After the break, MUW attacked with confidence, putting pressure on the Majors. However,
Madison Milano stayed tall, keeping the opposing team scoreless early on.
With just seven minutes remaining, the Owls evened the score, sending the contest into overtime.
