MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Millsaps College men's soccer team traveled to Memphis on Friday afternoon for the Southern Athletic Association opener against Rhodes College.
The host Lynx scored once in the opening half, and outscored the Majors 2-1 over the final 45 minutes to come away with the 3-1 win.
With the loss Millsaps falls to 4-5 on the year. They are 0-1 in SAA play. Rhodes improves to 3-5-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
How It Happened
The match was deadlocked at 0-0 for the better part of the first half until Rhodes broke through for the game's first score in the 38th minute.
Coming out of the locker room the Lynx struck again in the 52nd minute, and pushed their lead out to 3-0 with a 73rd minute tally.
The Majors responded with
Brett Judd's team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 82nd minute, but unfortunately the early defecit proved to be too much to overcome.
What's Next?
The Majors have a little over a week off from competition before their next match. Millsaps will be back in action on Sunday, October 6 when they travel to Hendrix College. Kickoff from Conway, Arkansas is set for 2:00 p.m.
