JACKSON, Miss – The Millsaps volleyball team (7-7, 2-5 SAA) dropped a four-set battle (22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 21-25) to Centre College (13-4, 5-3 SAA) in SAA action. Junior

Hannah Mattke tallied a match-high 24 digs.
Jolly also added in six blocks and 16 digs for the Majors.
Both teams were nearly identical on the stat sheet. Centre had 49 kills and 44 assists, while Millsaps accumulate 46 kills and 43 assists.
In the first set, both teams were deadlocked at 19-19. Centre utilized a 5-1 run to gain separation for the 25-22 win.
Millsaps raced out to a 10-3 advantage in the second set. Later on with the Majors up 24-16, the Colonels would attempt a rally and cut the lead to 24-22. Sophomore outside hitter
Brenna Macaluso would put an end to Centre's comeback hopes with a kill to tie the match at 1-1.
Both teams were then tied 18-18 late in the third set, Centre would go on a 7-4 surge to regain a 2-1 advantage in the match.
With the fourth set tied 4-4, Centre would take control with a pair of 4-0 runs. Facing elimination, Millsaps would charge back into the set where a kill by Reed would cut the Colonels lead down to three. Ultimately, Centre would hold for a 25-21 victory in the decisive set.
The Majors will next host Berry College on Friday, Oct. 8. The contest is set for a 6 p.m. start with live video and live stats available at gomajors.com.
