MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The No. 3 seed Berry Vikings rallied to defeat the Millsaps women's soccer team in an SAA Quarterfinal matchup on Saturday. Freshman defender
Camille Blanchard scored her fourth goal of the season in a 4-1 loss at Bob Pearson Field.
Senior
Maddie Moore tallied eight saves for Millsaps (3-10-1, 2-6-0 SAA).
Outshooting the Majors 24-1 and 12-1 with shots on goal, Berry (10-5, 6-2 SAA) controlled the pace for the majority of the match.
Millsaps took a 1-0 lead into intermission when Blanchard capitalized on a penalty kick in the 34th minute. Senior forward
Mary Ranager powered a nice through ball that led Blanchard into the box, who eventually was clipped from behind. Blanchard proceeded by burying a strike in the top left corner from the penalty hash mark.
Berry would knot the match up at 1-1 with a goal off a counterattack in the opening minute of the second half. They would then take the lead and put the match away with three consecutive goals in the span of three minutes, beginning in the 74th minute, for a 4-1 victory.
