JACKSON, Miss. – A familiar face and veteran of the coaching ranks will grace the sidelines of the Hangar Dome this season. All-SAA honoree
Taelor Manning will be the new Millsaps women's basketball assist coach, while 11-year experienced coach
Jeff Wilbur becomes the men's assistant.
Manning garnered All-SAA First Team recognition as a senior in the spring of 2021 after being a force on the offensive and defensive sides of the court. She finished tops in the conference at 3.7 assists per game, second in field goal percentage (47.2 percent) and free-throw percentage (79.3 percent), third in scoring (17.1 ppg), and fourth in steals per contest (2.3 spg).
She was also dependable no matter the time of game as she played in all 14 contests and was second in average time played at 33.1 minutes per game. In 95 career games played, Manning scored 853 points, grabbed 395 rebounds, dished out 214 assists, and tallied 123 steals.
Manning, a product of Memphis, Tenn., received her undergraduate degree in Accounting and is currently pursuing her Master of Accountancy (MAcc). She made the SAA Academic Honor Roll four times and was also All-SAA Honorable Mention following the 2019-20 campaign.
Wilbur is tabbed the men's basketball assistant coach having coached at multiple levels spanning 11 years. A native of Detroit, Mich., he was most recently the head coach at Apple Valley High in California since 2019. Wilbur helped double the teams wins from before his arrival.
From 2015-2019, Wilbur was the head coach of Tolleson High School in the Phoenix metro area. While at the helm, he led Tolleson to its first playoff appearance since 2011 and improved their overall winning percentage.
Wilbur doubled as a special education teacher dating back to 2010. Prior to that, he played football for Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
Wilbur received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Wittenberg in 2010 and earned his Master's of Special Education from Arizona State University in 2012.
