JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis programs had another strong weekend at the Coach Montgomery Courts posting three wins combined over Centre on Saturday and Sunday.
The men won 5-4 and 6-3 in two epic battles, while the women won 7-2 on Saturday and were defeated 5-4 on Sunday. Day one matches counted in the conference standings while Sunday matches are classified as non-conference contests. Both squads will play next at Birmingham-Southern, March 27-28.

Saturday Men's Recap: 5-4
Millsaps began the weekend with a 2-1 record after doubles. On Court 1,
Trevor Vaccaro and
Hamilton Jackson won for the second consecutive week, downing Centre's Bo Bush and Arpit Rana, 8-6. The duo made an impressive in the match after trailing 1-4.
John Kimball and
Benjamin Falk also improved to 2-0 as a pair on Court 2, with an 8-4 decision.
The Majors continued its momentum in singles with first set wins on four of six courts.
Benjamin Falk gave Millsaps its third point after cruising in a 6-3, 6-0 victory. He won 10 straight games after trailing 3-2 in set one.
Sophomore
Kells Hecht won with relative ease on Court 2, 6-3, 6-3 to inch the Majors closer to a clinching point.
Centre won on Courts 1, 4 and 6 to make the match at 4-4 draw, leaving all eyes on the action on Court 3 between
Hamilton Jackson and Centre's Bo Bush.
Jackson won the first set, 6-4 and dropped 7-2 tiebreak in the second to set up a decisive third. He broke his opponent's serve at 4-4 in the last set, allowing him to serve out the match at 5-4. After three hours of match play, Jackson clinched the victory in an instant classic.
Sunday Men's Recap: 6-3
On Sunday, the men's squad also finished doubles with a 2-1 lead. Vaccaro and
Alex Gardiner claimed a 8-3 point on Court 1, while Hecht and
Jakub Bobinski secured the second point on Court 2 by the same 8-3 score.
Vaccaro (6-0, 6-3) and Gardiner (6-2, 6-1) pushed the match total to 4-1 with wins on Courts 2 and 3, respectively.
Centre would pick up a victory on Court 1, but
Henry Atkins (6-4, 1-6, 10-8) and Bobinski (6-4, 6-3) finished victorious on Courts 4 and 5 to give the Majors more than enough points for the team triumph.

Saturday Women's Recap: 7-2
On the women's side, Millsaps opened the weekend with an efficient showing in doubles. The teams of

Morris Kelly Clayton (8-3) and
Ella Shileds/
Marissa Brown (8-2) were all victorious.
The efficiency continued as the Majors picked up four wins in singles with the closest set being 6-3. On Court 1, Gaskins downed Centre's Katharine Sherman, 6-1, 6-1. Sherman finished last season ranked No. 43 in the nation.
Dabadie (6-3, 6-3), Fremaux (6-3, 6-3) and Shields (6-2, 6-3) rounded out the Majors point total.
Sunday Women's Recap: 4-5
The second women's match of the weekend went in favor of Centre. The Colonels claimed two points from doubles with the lone Millsaps win coming from Dabadie and
Sarah Hayek (8-2) on Court 2.
Centre would then clinch the match with victories on Courts 2, 1 and 3, in that order to secure the team victory.
Madison Williams (6-1, 6-3),
Isabella Hutchins (1-6, 6-1, 10-8) and
Amelia Christy (8-2) would earn victories on Courts 4 through 6 to improve their individual records.
