Men’s Soccer Shut Out at Centre on Sunday

Majors Will Next Host Birmingham-Southern on April 3

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Millsaps men's soccer team was held scoreless in its road match at Centre, falling 6-0 on Sunday.

Centre (1-3, 1-3 SAA) jumped out to a 5-0 first-half lead and held off Millsaps (1-2, 1-2 SAA) in the second at Amend Field.

The Colonels outshot the Majors 30-3, with a 14-2 edge for shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Wilkins Dowdy made six saves, while brother Jacks Dowdy and teammate Sebastiani Maraldo each recorded a shot on target.

Junior Ethan Brunet fired the first shot of the match less than two minutes in, but it sailed wide.

Centre then opened the scoring in the ninth minute as Ryan Roussel ran down the right side of the pitch before finding Nathan Wilcox alone out front for a tap in.

The Majors looked destined to tie the game in the 23rd minute when Dowdy received the ball off a corner kick, but the Centre keeper sprawled on the ground for the stop.

The Colonels would pull away with four more tallies by intermission in the 27th, 34th, 36th and 41st minutes. Centre would add a final tally in the second half in the 86th minute.

Up next for the Majors will be a home match against Birmingham-Southern on Saturday, April 3, with a 7 p.m. opening kick. Live video and live stats links will be available on gomajors.com.
