MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Millsaps baseball team (2-12, 0-4 SAA) fell in both games of its doubleheader against No. 23 Berry College (14-2, 5-2 SAA), 11-3 and 22-5 at William R. Bowdoin Field on Sunday.
GAME ONE: 11-3 (7 innings)
Junior pitcher
Avery Brock threw a no-hitter through the first two innings for the Majors to help carry them to a 0-0 deadlock.
The scoring got started for both teams in the third inning with a
Sam Pitre RBI double that plated
Mason Little. Berry responded with five runs in the bottom half of the frame and held onto the lead for the remainder of the contest.
In the fifth inning, Pitre tallied another RBI with a single with the bases loaded. Senior infielder
Keaton Page completed the scoring for the Majors in the top of the seventh inning with an RBI single to left field that scored
Jacob Dickinson.
Little and Pitre both went a perfect 3-for-3 at bat in game one.
GAME TWO: 22-5 (7 innings)
Millsaps got the scoring started early with three runs capped by senior catcher
Fritz Walker's two-run RBI double in the first inning. Berry was able to answer with four runs of their own to close out the first.
Pitre's RBI double to right field allowed Millsaps to square the game at 4-4 after its opening half of the second. This would be the closest the Majors would get to Berry as the Vikings would score three runs in the bottom of second and a plethora of 14 tallies in the third.
A Brock RBI single in the fifth inning would round out the Majors' scoring.
