JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's soccer team (1-5-0, 1-5-0 SAA) were downed by Oglethorpe University (4-1-2, 4-1-2 SAA) by a score of 3-0 in their season finale at Harper Davis Field on Sunday afternoon.
As the last line of defense for the Majors, freshman goalkeeper
Kelvin Gardner tallied a season-high 14 saves for the Majors.
Jacks Dowdy had the lone shot on goal for the Majors off of three attempts.
Action was fast and furious for both squads from the beginning. The Majors found themselves in a defensive slugfest in the first half. Their best opportunity to score came in the 11th minute when a kick to the lower left of the goal from Dowdy was saved by the fingertips of the Oglethorpe keeper.
After being called for offsides four times throughout the game, Oglethorpe was able to finally break through the defense of Millsaps with three goals in 10 minutes, beginning in the 66th minute on Senior Day.
