SHREVEPORT, La. – It was a dominate performance by the Millsaps women's golf program as the Majors dispatched the Ladies of Centenary College, 5-0 in dual match play at Querbes Park Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 20.
The 18-hole course was a par 71 and covered 5,579 yards.
"I'm so proud of our Majors for their outstanding performance against Centenary College Monday," said Millsaps Director of Golf
Michael Fluty. "We won all five matches for a 5-0 win. The girls stayed calm, trusted their decisions and stayed focused on playing each shot to the best of their ability at that moment. A great start to our Fall season!"
Senior
Lindsey Gordon battled Centenary's Abigail Hayes through the entire course to a 1-up decision.
Junior
Kati Albright won 5&4, which gave her the victory at the 14th hole with a five-hole lead.
Rising freshmen
Annie Piggott and
Sophia Albasini both turned in outstanding opening performances for their collegiate careers. Piggott won on the 12th hole at 8&7, while Albasini claimed victory at the 13th at 7&6.
Classmate
Claire Reynolds won 10&8 because the Ladies were unable to field a fifth player.
Millsaps will be back in action at the Rhodes Classic, Oct. 4-5 and will compete on the Mirimichi Golf Course in Millington, Tenn.
