JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps baseball trio
Bradley Pelle (two RBIs, one run),
Mark Petkovsek (two runs) and
Nathan Chilton all tallied two hits in a 5-4 victory over Huntingdon in the final game of the Millsaps Baseball Classic. Senior pitcher
Ryan Erwin struck out three batters while allowing just one run in 5.0 IP at Twenty Field on Sunday.
Mason Little and
Sam Pitre also crossed home plate for Millsaps (4-2), while
Case Page tallied an RBI for the Majors.
Avery Brock provided four quality innings as the starter giving up two hits one earned run.
Huntingdon (1-2) scored the first two runs of the game, but Millsaps cut the lead in half when Pitre scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the third.
The Hawks scored one run in the top of the fourth, but
Chris Hart kept the damage to a minimum with a diving field gem protecting third base.
After Millsaps allowed the leadoff batter on base with an error in the top of the fifth, the Majors kept the score 3-1 when Pelle caught a flyout in centerfield and doubled up the runner at first with a laser throw.
Pelle was not finished with his already amazing inning as he blasted a two-RBI double to the fence at centerfield and tied the game at 3-3. The Majors then claimed their first lead of the game when Chilton belted a two-out double off the top of the left field fence to bring home Pelle.
With the Hawks looking to knot the game up, Pelle once against frustrated Huntingdon with not one but two diving catches as he battled the setting sun in the top of the seventh. Millsaps would gain a two-run advantage in the bottom of the inning when Page would put a ball in play for an infield RBI to score

Threatening to tie the game with no outs and two runners in scoring position in the eightn, Huntingdon was able to score one run to cut the deficit to 5-4. Down to their last three innings, Erwin and the Majors' defense helped preserve the closely contested 5-4 victory for the Majors.
