JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis programs hosted Rhodes College for the first day of their final weekend of home matches on Saturday. The women's team was defeated 7-2, while the men's team was narrowly beaten 5-4 at the Coach Montgomery Courts.
Both teams will be back in action to host Hendrix for Senior Day on Sunday, April 24. The men will open play at 9 a.m., while the women will follow at 12 p.m.
Women's Recap: L, 7-2
In doubles action, the team of Morris Kelly Clayton and Camille Fremaux upended their opponents in the opener on Court 1 by a score of 8-6. Marissa Brown and Kiana Everhart gave a valiant performance but were ultimately downed 8-5 on Court 2. Mary Dabadie and Madison Williams were the final tandem to compete at Court 3 as they claimed two games in their defeat.
In singles play, Fremaux competed in the longest match of the day on Court 1. She was downed 6-4 in set one, but claimed sets two and three in tiebreakers. Claiming four games in set one and five in set two, Everhart had a strong showing on Court 2. Looking to force a game three on Court 4, Dabadie engaged in an entertaining tiebreaker before she fell.

The pairing of Jakub Bobinski and John Kimball won convincingly in the Majors' lone doubles win on Court 2 (8-4). The teams of Trevor Vaccaro / Hamilton Jackson and Kells Hecht / Brady St. Martin also played in competitive matches, but they both were outlasted with final scores of 8-6.
It was fireworks in singles action as three of the matches went the distance to extra play. Kimball opened things up with a victory over his No. 22 regionally-ranked opponent, Daniel Trudell on Court 1. Vaccaro fought to a third set, but lost 10-8 on Court 2. Jackson also participated in a three-set match, and survived the third game, 13-11 for his fourth consecutive victory.
After Bobinski cruised to a triumph on Court 5 by a 6-2, 6-4 decision, while St. Martin went the distance in his match on Court 6. He would split the first two sets with his opponent, but fall in a 12-10 classic.
