Millsaps Tennis Programs Sweep Hendrix on Senior Day

Women Earn 8-1 Win, Men Secure 6-3 Triumph to Close SAA Regular Season

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis programs both claimed wins in their home finale against Hendrix during Senior Day on Sunday. It was an impressive 8-1 showing for the women and a 6-3 win for the men. The Majors recognized seniors Marissa Brown, Amelia Christy, Morris Kelly Clayton, Sarah Hayek, Isabella Hutchins, Camille Landry and John Kimball.

Up Next: Both teams are scheduled to compete in the SAA Tennis Tournaments, beginning on Friday in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Women's Recap: W, 8-1
In doubles action, the Majors swept Hendrix convincingly in all three matchups. The team of Clayton and junior Camille Fremaux did not drop a game as they blanked their opponents 8-0. Brown and freshman Kiana Everhart also showed well with an 8-2 triumph on Court 2. Christy and Hayek were impressive after falling down 7-4. The pair battled back to tie the match and claim the tiebreak, 7-4.

Fremaux, Brown and Christy all cruised to wins on the first three courts. Hendrix won on Court 4, but Hayek would put Millsaps in the win column with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win on Court 5. In the final match of the day, Landry dropped the first game 6-0, but responded with 7-6 and 10-5 wins.

Men's Recap: W, 6-3
Millsaps dropped doubles on Court 1, but responded well with wins on Courts 2 and 3. The duos of Jakub Bobinski and Kimball (8-1) along with Kells Hecht and Brady St. Martin (8-4) earned victories to give the Majors a 2-1 advantage going into singles action.

Junior Hamilton Jackson was dominant in his solo match as he won in straight sets, while classmate Trevor Vaccaro also needed only two sets for victory (6-2, 7-5). Hecht and Bobinski showed resiliency as they each lost their first sets before coming back to win the last two.
