BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Millsaps women's soccer team were dominate in a 1-0 road victory at Lyon College on the J. Marshall Huser Soccer Field on Saturday.
The Majors outshot the Scots, 26-8 with a 18-3 on-target advantage. Millsaps also secured its first Opening-Match victory since 2014.

Julia Gaude scored in the 22nd minute with an assist by classmate
Allyssa Hearn. Senior midfielder
Riley Ely added a match-high nine shots with six on goal. Freshman keeper
Emily Lozano provided three saves for the shutout.
Millsaps also held a 4-1 edge on corner kicks and posted three fewer fouls (7-4).

Ranee' LeVasseur, Mary Ranager (five shot attempts) and
Alyssa Hearn (six shot attempts) all had multiple shot tries.
The Majors were consistent offensively throughout outshooting Lyon, 14-5 in the first half and 12-3 in the second half. Lyon threatened with a shot off the crossbar in the 82nd minute and Lozano made a final save in the 86th minute to preserve the victory.
