ATLANTA – In only her second competition of the fall, Millsaps women's golf junior
Annie Piggott was selected the SAA Women's Golf Athlete of the Week for the second time, the league office announced on Thursday.
Piggott becomes the first Millsaps women's golfer in program history to garner recognition for the second occasion in her collegiate career.
She joins
Ryan Martin from the Millsaps men's golf program as the only two Majors to be recognized twice in the sport by the SAA, dating back to 2012.
On the women's side,
Danielle Williams and
Lauren Durbin are the other female Millsaps golfers to earn the honor once. Williams did so in 2020 and Durbin was honored in 2013.
Piggott fired identical rounds of 75 to complete 36 holes at plus-6 and finish fourth in a field of 61 competitors at the Legends Cup on Tuesday.
Piggott tallied her eighth and ninth collegiate rounds of 75-or-lower scores and cracked the top 10 for the eighth time. Additionally, she was tied with the most birdies with six over the two rounds, held at the Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, Texas.
The Lindsay, Ontario product was also named SAA Women's Golf Athlete of the Week on Sept. 21 after tying for seventh at the Joe & Lee Duncan Invitational with a plus-5 (69-71-81).
