JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps volleyball team (9-8, 3-4 SAA) gave it their all, but was bested by Centre (12-6, 6-1 SAA) in three sets (23-25, 15-25, 15-25) on Saturday inside the Hangar Dome.

Zoe Elder nearly posted a double-double with 15 assists and nine digs. Freshman
Sandy Bourgeois tied her career high with 16 digs, while senior
Margaret Richardson contributed 13 digs.
The first set was a clash between both sides with 14 ties and six changes. The Colonels took an early 2-1 lead, but the Majors would answer back with a kill by Capezzera and two consecutive service aces to take a 5-3 edge.
The match would continue to swing back and forth from there, with Millsaps possessing leads at 21-20 and 22-21. Centre would eventually stand their ground to take the lead back with four over the final five points to take the first set by a narrow 25-23 margin.
The Colonels then took a 19-9 advantage in the second set. A trio of Centre errors along with an Elder and Capezerra kill would cut the deficit to five, while carrying a 5-0 run. Centre finalized the second set with five points of their own to claim a 25-15 victory.
In the third set, a Macaluso kill made it an 11-7 deficit. However, Centre would utilize another 5-0 run to build an a nine-point margin. The Colonels would get the upper hand to win the final set, 25-15.
Millsaps will remain at the Hangar Dome to face off against Sewanee on Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m. Live video and live stats will be available for viewers at gomajors.com.
