ATLANTA – The Millsaps women's basketball team extended their winning streak to seven straight victories, including two triumphs last week. Sophomore forward
Elyse Warren was instrumental in continuing the Majors' run and she was selected the Southern Athletic Association Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week, the league office announced following a conference-wide coaches' vote on Monday.
Warren averaged a double-double of 18.5 points, 10 rebounds and 0.5 blocks on 62 percent shooting (13-of-21) in 15.5 minutes off the bench.
On Wednesday, she led the Majors to a 69-52 victory at Centenary by tallying a season-high 19 points to go along with 11 rebounds, for the double-double.
On Sunday, she shot 6-of-8 from the field for 18 points in a convincing 64-37 win, hosting Birmingham-Southern. Warren added nine rebounds and a block.
The Majors will be right back in action, traveling to MUW on Tuesday. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. with live video and live stats available at gomajors.com.
