ATLANTA – Millsaps women's basketball sophomore Haley Franklin made history by being named the Southern Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, the conference office announced on Monday.

She now stands tied for second with four such recognitions in a single season (Sara Dyslin, Hendrix, 2016-17). Only Lauren Avant of Rhodes earned more honors with five during the 2013-14 season. Franklin becomes the first Major to garner four Player of the Week nods in the SAA era, dating back to 2012-13.

The Baton, Rouge, La., native has now secured the honor on Nov. 21, Dec. 13, Jan. 9 and Feb. 13.

Franklin had another strong week in helping the Majors earn a pair of victories over the weekend. She averaged a double-double at 17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals.

In a 58-54 win against Hendrix on Friday, Franklin tallied nine points, 10 rebounds and one assist. She added an impressive 26 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 64-49 triumph against Rhodes on Sunday. It was her ninth 20-point game in 24 contests this season.
 
She currently leads the conference in total points, points per game (19.3 ppg), free throw makes (134), field goal conversions (161) and is fourth with 156 rebounds (6.5 rpg). Franklin is also third with 67 assists and fifth with 46 steals.
