FLOWOOD, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's swimming and diving programs closed the regular season well in a dual meet against Delta State on Saturday inside GRIT Training.
The Majors combined for 13 top-three swims and placed one, two and three in the men's 50-yard freestyle. Delta State, an NCAA Division II program, bested the men's squad (193-47) and women's program (199-40).
In the men's 50-yard free, sophomore
Kaiden Auzenne triumphed with a time of 23.42 seconds. He finished just ahead of classmates
Jackson Van Meter (second, 24.65) and
Andrew Meadows (third, 24.79). Meadows also finished runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2 minutes, 38.22 seconds.
Fellow sophomore
Brian Ridner was third in a pair of events, including the 100-yard butterfly (58.23) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.00). Classmate
Ben Anderson posted strong times in both the 100-yard freestyle (fourth, 48.92) and 200-yard freestyle (third, 1:47.76).
Both men's relays also placed third in the competition. Ridner, Meadows, Anderson and Auzenne clocked 1:45.24 in the 200-yard medley relay. Anderson, Auzenne, Van Meter and Ridner posted a mark of 1:33.21 in the 200-yard freestyle relay as well.
On the women's side, junior
Kat Burns had a pair of top-four placements. She was strong in the 100-yard breaststroke (third, 1:12.47) and 100-yard freestyle (fourth, 58.26).
Senior
Ginny Ray Clevenger and junior
Catherine Passarelli finished runner-up and third in the 1000-yard freestyle with times of 11:50.54 and 12:14.99, respectively.
Additionally, sophomores
Abigail Hoffman and
Zoe Cowell claimed third-place showings. Hoffman competed in the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.12) and Cowell participated in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.45).
Millsaps will now ready for the SAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Birmingham, Ala., Wednesday, Feb. 7 through Saturday, Feb. 10. Live video of each morning and evening session will be available at gomajors.com.
