Sewanee (4-13, 1-9 SAA) jumped out to a 7-4 start in the opening moments. However, Baer would land back-to-back kills for the Majors and help draw the first set, 7-7.
Both teams would transfer points back and forth before Millsaps would hold a slim 19-16 lead.
A Capezzera kill would keep the Majors ahead by three points at 20-17. However, Sewanee surged ahead with a 9-1 run to claim the first set, 25-21.
In the second set, Sewanee installed a 5-2 start over the Majors. A crucial kill by Capezzera would cut the Tigers lead down to two points and give Millsaps much needed momentum.

Following a service error and an attack error, Millsaps would move further along, 15-9 before Sewanee would call a timeout.
A kill by the Tigers cut the Majors score down to 15-11. Millsaps continued to change the momentum of the set as two kills by Richardson and a bundle of kills by Elder, Stephens and Naquin made the difference in the matchup.
The Majors would score quickly off three consecutive Sewanee attack errors to end the second in their favor at 25-14.
Baer opened the third set with the first kill for the Majors and sparked the squad to a 14-7 run.
Leading 16-10, Naquin would total a kill before the Tigers used three consecutive kills to pull within four points.
As the third set continued, another kill by Sewanee and Millsaps attack error would decrease the Majors advantage to 23-21.
Capezzera sparked the Hangar Dome with a kill to extend the Majors' margin up to three points.
Millsaps would soon be rewarded with their final point off a Tiger attack error to claim the third set, 25-22.

Soon after, Richardson and Stephens would cage the Tigers with two kills to push Millsaps forward, 11-5.
After a substitution change, Sewanee would come back with a 4-0 run to make it a 12-10 contest.
