TEAM PREVIEWS
Millsaps College
The Majors are looking to dominate this tournament and get back on track for a successful season. The bigs will be looked to for help, as seniors Drew Roth and Nicholas Ughovwa have crashed the boards early for the Majors and have shown great production in this young season. Roth and Ughovwa are both averaging close to five rebounds a game for the Majors, leading the team. Junior guard
Dakota Gasca has shown great defensive efficiency forcing turnovers and tallying five steals so far, he will look to add to that count this weekend. Last but certainly not least, the sharpshooting guard
Cameron Lumar. Lumar has only played one game this year but still leads the team at 16 points per game. Coach Prather says Lumar, "will try and play this weekend," and Coach Prather looks forward to having his star guard back in the lineup.
Belhaven University
The Blazers' veteran line-up will look to show their experience and keep their hot 3-1 start rolling. Senior guards Jemario Hersey and Jonathan Lucas will look to continue their early team-leading 11 points per game average alongside Hersey's 64 percent three-point shooting at the start of the week. Their senior counterpart Jacob Reese has been absolutely jumping out of the gym, averaging 16 rebounds in the last three games and shooting right at 50 percent from the field. It is safe to say the Blazers are hot and off to a strong start.
Centenary College
The Gents are off to a slow start, but it is early and there is promise. Senior guard Craig Collier has led the charge, averaging 19.8 points so far along with three assists a game. Classmate Jakobi Greenleaf has been active for the Gents in the rebound category, averaging nine rebounds a game, and on the defensive side he has been averaging two blocks per game. The Gents will look to have a breakout weekend in the Magnolia State and start a trend for the rest of the season.
University of the Ozarks
The Eagles will come into the weekend 3-1. Sophomore guard Cedrick Dodd has started the season hot, averaging 15.7 points and just over six rebounds entering the week. Senior Justin Marmara and Junior James Mathews have both averaged just over 14 points to start the year and will look to give support to Dodd and the Eagles and improve their record.
