ATLANTA – Millsaps women's basketball junior guard
Haley Franklin was named the Southern Athletic Association Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, following a conference coaches' vote and Monday press release announcement.
Franklin previously secured the honor on Dec. 11 and Jan. 8. Teammate and sophomore
Elyse Warren also earned the weekly recognition on Dec. 4 and Jan. 29. Millsaps claimed five of the total 13 weekly plaudits with Monday's announcement being the last of the season.
Franklin helped power the Majors to a pair of wins against Rhodes and Hendrix over the weekend. She averaged 18 points, 5.5 rebounds and two assists. Millsaps claimed its seventh conference title in program history following the pair of victories.
On Friday in thrilling win versus the Lynx, she netted 23 points (9-of-11 FT), six boards, three assists and two steals. Franklin then tallied 13 points, five rebounds and one assist hosting the Warriors on Sunday.
The Baton Rouge, La., product currently has 959 career points in two seasons and leads the SAA at 18.5 points per game, 445 total points and 161 field goals. She also earned the conference's weekly honor four times as a sophomore.
Millsaps (21-4, 12-2 SAA) has concluded its regular season and will await their opponent following the final slate of SAA games on Wednesday. Live video and live stats for the SAA First Round contest scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the Hangar Dome on Sunday will be provided at gomajors.com.
